Everybody has their own level of normality.

Like how today on the radio, the DJ read a small food for thought kinda thing, he said, "when faced with a dilemma, write down on 4 different pieces of paper, the consequence of any action towards: yourself, your family, your friends and your commitments(studies, work). He then continued to say, every different situation carries a different weight on all of these 4 things, no one solution that emphasizes on any a certain thing only, is perfect for every situation. Sometimes, sometimes, we choose which one we would rather protect... even though it might not be the right one..

Coming home for the 6th(?) time for 6 years is slowly changing my perception of normal. Like how I keep thinking that everything is so damned expensive, even though everything has always been this expensive, at least for the past 3 years. I still remember the old TV channels' channel number, how every Monday and Thursday is squash day, and every Saturday we play football in the morning, and cybercafe in the afternoon. That's basically the definition of home to me. My normal.

6 years is a long time... 6 years - the same amount of time to enter primary school, and graduate it into puberty, the amount of years which KLCC took to complete. 72 months, when a meal used to cost RM 2.20, and now RM 4.50. Maybe we were too trapped in the other reality and froze ourselves of this one. Maybe I'd hoped too hard that when I was not here, everything would stay the same, awaiting my return. Maybe I'd thought that I'd be able to go and come back in a rush, quick enough that nothing would've changed yet. To be honest, I didn't recognize my family when I first saw them..

Normality... or maybe 6 years of "there" has indented itself so deep into my being, that "here" has became "there". Vice versa. I find myself feeling awkward in the LRT where nobody says excuse me, or "Вы будете выходить?" . 4 seats are actually only 2 because everybody is to shy to sit beside somebody else. Even when the train is packed. I can't sleep at night, trying to breathe "my air", but realizing that my air is blocked by a 10-storey construction site.

Suddenly, I miss the smell of my good ol' 15 floor.

The good thing about NOT being a writer is whenever Microsoft Words dies on you while saving your completed work, you do not have to worry about being fired.

So the entire hour spent typing in a restaurant which gave me such interesting inspiration, gone. Anyhow, lemme tell my story anyhow. Anyhow.

As much as I hate flying in an airplane (the food, the seats and the person next to you), I love being in an airport. I feed on the pretense and atmosphere that an airport carries. The life and movement in an airport is like no other which you can find anywhere else. The diversity, the richest of the dark skins among the poorest of the whites. The weirdest of people who, interestingly can afford air travel. And when you see a white man lying asleep on the floor, he's probably the most adventurous person in the world. Then that moment that you came across a Vietnamese looking fellow, and suddenly he's uncivilized and dirty and probably rides the motorcycle in his home country. An hour ago, I've spent an amount of money in one of the many (?) restaurants here in Dubai Airport, for some pastries and a coffee. That restaurant offers a buffet of internation breakfast for roughly the same amount of money. And just directly opposite that restaurant, about a hundred people are lining up for the same food, but only for free. Now don't let my spend-dad's-money-like-water issue bump you out, hear me out aight?

Since the beginning of air travel, which was initially meant for the rich and glamorous, the rich and glamorous has been trying to widen this invisible gap that separates them, with the non-them. I do believe that commercial airlines are nothing but a method of transportation, which focuses on their glorified restaurant which travels across continents. People do believe in quick and hassle-free transportation, of course, but rich people, they believe in not including anyone else in their travels too. First Class lounges, separate terminals, and lobsters on a plane were meant precisely to do that. Only that. If I wanted to eat with poor people, I'd go a McDonalds, but I'm paying 10 times more than you, just so that I don't have to look you in the eye while eating my lobsters. Then people like Richard Branson and Tony Fernandes came along and “changed” the game for those people. Now everybody can have a taste of what being rich is all about, well sort of. It’s like buying a knock off China-made iPhone for your 15 year old child, saving a thousand dollars too. Heck, even monks are flying nowadays. Today, what’s left that separates the rich and the not so rich, the thin cloth dividing the First Class folks, with the rest of the population. If you’re not behind that piece of cloth, you’re not really anything.

Middle class people, or middle-classers as I want to refer them as here, rule the airports. We will rape the airport until every drip of her free items is pooped out. We’re filling our baby bottles with the water from the water fountain, we’re missing our flights for that cup of free coffee, and yes, we will test every single perfume they have to offer in the duty free shops. Middle-classers strive in this airport environment simply because of the climate that it is grown in. No, we’re not stinking rich, but we’re not poor as well. And when the lounges are 40USD$, I’m paying! The day that Emirates Business Class Lounge opened to the public for an entrance fee of 45USD$, it became a market for the not-too-poor. Unclassy folks were putting sandwiches in their pockets, stealing soaps and shampoos, leaving the real rich guys stranded, with nowhere to run. If you’re not flying First Class, you’d be better off lining up in Burger King, than be stuck in a “lounge”.

Directly opposite the restaurant where I had my expensive breakfast, a hundred people are still lining up for their free food. In the restaurant, there were about 15 people, most of us on our own table in front of the laptop(the place did not even have wi-fi). That image, is the definition of division of class. Separated by the shops, looking directly at each other. Would you pay 20USD$ for a cup of coffee? Maybe, just maybe, in our lifetime, rich folks will think of a new way of defining themselves again. The pretense is endless; the air is thick with the sense of superiority. “I might not be rich, but I can afford the lifestyle, just until the announcement lady calls my flight number. Just for a moment.”

Perhaps one day we will see a First Class only flight, I mean they have all-suites hotel everywhere don’t they? Perhaps we will even have airline companies devoted totally to serving them rich bastards. Until that day, which I believe is not too far away, I’ll enjoy my 20USD$ coffee, until my dad finds out.

Sweet Type of a Bitter

Finally heading home after being "stuck" in Moscow for the past 20 days.
Oh the anticipation.

I long for the smell of my room. The noise from my traffic. Water from my showers.

This few days had made me more into a tourist than any other have. My POV has been foreign-fied to the point that I felt the need to carry a book whenever going out. The need to take a picture of everything interesting and yellow. Thank God, I am too poor to own a camera.

Can't wait to be in a proper car, where the air-cond functions as the coolerizing shizzamathing. The familiar unfamiliarity. The sweet type of bitter, also known as the durian taste.

The difference between clean, fresh air and the air, which belongs to me, and grew up with me.

Going home and coming back, for the last time :)

I'm a person who appreciates peace. It's not that I like it all the time.
I simply appreciate it.
Life is definitely a roller-coaster like how Robbie said it, there are up's and there are downs... but the thing about a roller-coaster is this, it is almost always terribly fast, and when it is slow, you better be getting ready for the drop.

A lot of time in my life I've been put into(or stepped into, myself) many different roller coasters. More recently, these roller-coasters have become more of a routine taxi ride for me. A loop is nothing but a curb, and when it drops... I simply buckle up.

Whenever peace comes around, it is like the silence between the music in a song, or what we call the "kick". It cannot be missed and it feels like kneading dough with your hands.
Even more recently, I've discovered peace in many different ways...

What a chilling day .

It's about 5 days until my final 5th year exam (which turned out to be the toughest one) and I am already imagining how I would beg myself into just getting a passing mark. Batchmates are playing rugby downstairs, going jogging and shopping.

This is what 5 years (or 6) of stressed fill exams have led us to become. :)
And it's awesome. It's awesome when you can do an exam with practically 0 stress. Since everything will be like how it has been...chances of not doing well is like 5%.

I have about 200MCQs to study and 80structural and 40cases to study plus actually studying the book before Wednesday. So what.

It's the weekend man.

What a productive night. Just a billion more pages to go with about 24 hours to my exams.
All that we studied about the male system was in a dumb cycle called Urology(which is technically not strictly Male) for a week where there was no exams for it. What we are studying for the female, spans 4 semester of Medical School, 8 weeks in total, 250 MCQs and 100 over cases for a State Exam.
And half of the problems can be solved with a lil self control...

Do you know that if a woman gets too much sweet stuff, she will start to itch down there. FACT.

Was listening to Olivia's rendition of this beautiful song and I decided to look up the chords for it and before I knew it, I stumbled into this person's blog. He/She/"Charis" described the incidents of looking for a song, that has so much emotional sublimes behind it.

This song is old, but the lyrics mean so much more than just another lost love. It brings you to a point in time, where you had to realize that there are things, people in life, predestined to only introduce you to an emotion so real that it hurts just to think it... but you knew you had it coming. You always did.

I give this song to people who already knew what they will never gather in their life, and people who will lose their lives, trying to gather them.

This song (范逸臣's Chinese version) goes out to those who are feeling a little down & out, maybe cuz some circumstances didn't add up for you in this regard. I believe you’ll catch every line. I am a person who prefer to decipher situations using logic and understanding AND THEN be amazed, than to simply gasp in awe without knowing ahead.

Whenever I see something cool on the internet, or someone doing something noble, or even monkeys flying in the sky, I run the formulas in my head and give a tiny smirk, and move on.

That is why magic shows and card tricks do not really captivate me, they simply send some signals through my corpus callosum.

But on this very special day, I was left with DH after a 2.5 hour performance of a class so high, it is forbidden to be named.

Status Praesens : Общие состояние удостворительное. Т - неизмерял. сознание ясное.. Кожные покровы и видимые слизистые нормальной откраски. Влажность кожи обычная.Отеков нет.

ЧДД - 15/мин. ЧСС - 82у/мин

Осмотры системой без оссобенности, функции сохранены.

Предположительный диагноз : Грипп Сезонный.

План обследования :

1) Обший анализ крови.
2) Обший анализ мочи.

3) Анализ БХ крови.

4) Рентгенограмма передной грудной области.

Лечение:
Режим домашный

Диэта - ограничить соленые, жаренные, сухие еды.

Медикаментозные :

Нурофен 2 таб по 200мг 3р/д

или Парацетамол 2 таб по 500мг 2-3р/д

I got it.

Last night's South Park got everyone thinking, what did we learn today.

Kyle began his, "I learned something today... BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP" and then Jesus continued, "Yes, you see, gingers.. BLEEEEEEP" ...

The entire day everybody tried to guess what the bleep was... true enough, the bleep was put over nothing because the bleep was meant to be there from the first place, i.e. no dialog.

But I think I get it now,

The time we were thinking who Trey and Matt and everybody was trying to offend, we did not realize that it was us, the normals, that was offended... Jesus watching porn, Buddha sniffing coke... The joke was on us, everybody is trying to protect Mu*bleep*d and the celebrities and the Gingers that nobody else is left to offend except for everybody else. We kept asking if doing this is ok doing that is ok AT OUR OWN EXPENSE .. We had chosen to put those people superior over us and now we are nothing but a bunch of jokes.

Never had such a mind boggling few weeks in my supposed to be relaxed 4th year.

Shutkin was talking about panic attacks and he said he had 2 panic attacks before and it was horrible. And I was like, how on earth can you count how many time you've panicked and get super stressed out from it.

It must be really really horrible to the point that you are able to pin point 2 occasions where you really panicked like shat.

I've had many panicky occasions this few weeks, easter celebration put thoughts of expulsion in my head. MSRA and it's turmoil and dealing with the dark side. Problem A and Problem B and all the 32 characters in the alphabet.

But to pin point 2 occasion in your entire life that you've panicked?

The 20minutes before OPX?

The 3 minutes in the plane after it took off?

Being stopped by the police only to realise your license had expired?

The sky is sunny again :)

Optic atrophy
Classification and external resources

The left optic nerve and the optic tracts.

Optic atrophy is the loss of some or most of the fibers of the optic nerve. In medicine, "atrophy" usually means "shrunken but capable of regrowth", so some argue that "optic atrophy" as a pathological term is somewhat misleading and use "optic neuropathy" instead.

Prognosis

The optic nerve is part of the brain and has no capability for regeneration. Hence, there can be no recovery from optic atrophy and the term may refer to serious or mild, but always irreversible visual loss due to damage to the optic nerve. Three types of degeneration are seen: transsynaptic, anterograde, and retrograde.

Symptoms

There may be symptoms associated with loss of vision (although there may be a particular difficulty with colour vision).
Bilateral Optic Atrophy: Loss of vision and discoloration of discs in both eyes. This is a genetic form and can be inherited.
symptoms will be extremely varied. some people will have near to normal vision, whereas others will have very poor vision

Causes
Optic atrophy can be congenital or acquired.

Congenital
If congenital, it is usually hereditary with an onset of deterioration in childhood and may be accompanied by nystagmus. Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy, (LHON) or Leber Optic Atrophy is hereditary, but typically has its onset in 20-30 year old males. This is due to a mutation of the mitochondrial genome and hence is passed exclusively through the mothers. Dominant optic atrophy or Kjer's optic neuropathy has autosomal dominant inheritance. It usually presents in early childhood. There are numerous less common genetically related syndromes.
Alternatively, congenital optic atrophy can be caused by a lack of oxygen during pregnancy, labour or in the early days of a child's life. Some drugs taken during pregnancy are also associated with optic atrophy.

Acquired
The acquired type of optic atrophy may be due to blood supply changes in the eye or optic nerve (anterior ischemic optic neuropathy or posterior ischemic optic neuropathy), may be secondary to inflammation or swelling within the optic nerve (optic neuritis), may be a result of pressure against the optic nerve (such as from a tumour), or may be related to metabolic diseases (e.g., diabetes mellitus), trauma, glaucoma, or toxicity (caused by methanol, tobacco, or other poisons). It is also seen in vitamin B12 deficiency and Paget's disease of the bone.

Tomorrow we enter into the 3rd last day of the 1st cycle in the 2nd semester. Which means that we are would be well under way into the 2nd semester of my 4th year and I will be going into the 5th year, which is my 2nd last year before I graduate.

Today we attended to a patient who has never really trusted doctors, he came in for heartburn yesterday. So we asked him how was he feeling and all, and he suddenly began talking about his back pain, leg pain and kidney pain and since we were not told what why he was admitted, we boldly made our diagnosis - kidney stones.

Bought a random Seahawk rod for 40 bucks in Giant.

Went to Laguna to test out my Abu Garcia.

3pm - 10pm

Result: 1 Pacu (3 kg), 2 Rohu ( 1kg + 2kg)

Verdict: Still alot of getting use to with the reel (maybe the rod too). There is like no mid-range drag, either too loose or too hard. Especially when bringing up the Pacu, it was either the fella was just running loose or stuck being tugged by the line. Maybe 20lbs IS too thick.

And stupid Rohu jumped and tangled up my line.

Need to buy: Jig, new leeder, lighter line?

Wedding and People

Sis' wedding was great.

Tiring, had in KL and in Ipoh.

Ate wedding food, drank wedding drinks, great time, great time.

Now its about time to start my holidays.

KL is so hot! I don't mean to complain, but it is so damn blardy hot! When we were in Ipoh, we stayed in the hotel - the air-conditioner was super cold and there were no controls - just on or off. I woke up 20 times just to press the on off button because off means freaking hot.

Food I have yet to eat - Malay food, random pasar malam snacks.

Things I have yet to do - Study OPX.

Things currently doing - Dad in post-office renewing my licence.

Pokwe was right, being in Malaysia in January is alot different than in July. I don't feel like I'm back for a holiday at all. It feels like I'm back home after a holiday. There are things that just feels so comfortable and easy. like taking a shit in the toilet(seriously, after 2 years in M2 Hostel toilet - coming back to normal is luxury.

Recently, I've discovered that my memory does has a limit, and I seem to have reached it. Not without some complications.

About 2 weeks ago, I was on my way to feed the guinea pig a few floors down with a carrot on my hand. As usual, I tried to phrase the situation in Russian

I have forgotten what a guinea pig(in this case I was trying to use the word rabbit) is in Russian. It was one of the easier words in my vocab. It was a total blank, not even a syllable to begin with.

Throughout the entire week, I decreased myself into using long-assed phrases but with no objects or subjects present

- Мне кажется так, что хотя это такой итак, ну, нормально...не знаю... -

Even just yesterday, while I was walking towards the university, I tried to remember my basic ОПХ .. what требование for which operation/procedure. BLANK !

I have replaced most memory space with too many new stuff, both important and unimportant ones. And involuntarily, have deleted a lot of the older stuff.

And at that very moment, for the very first time in my life, I contemplated and even tempted myself to look up for some memory enhancers. Herbal-Life popped up in my mind very suddenly(thanks to great advertising).

Tom Tom Tom Ga Bacon Flavored Gai Soup

The Original

Ingredients:

- 2 boneless skinned chicken breasts
- 1 pint of chicken stock
- About 250 mls of coconut milk
- 8 birdseye chillis
- 2 stalks of lemongrass
- corriander(cilantro)
- A piece of ginger(galangal was what was needed but its hard to get a hold of here and everyone I asked looked at me as if i had just spat in their eye)
- The juice of a lime
- 4 tbsp of fish sauce

Slice the ginger up into really thin strips and cut the stalks off the chillis. Dice the chicken into bitesize cubes and then remove the outerleaves from the lemon grass until you get to the soft bit in the center. Now take a rolling pin or something heavy and batter the lemongrass and give the chillis a beating for good measure.

Step 1:
Place the stock in a pot and start to heat. While it is heating juice your lime.
When the stock is starting to get hot, put the lime juice, chillis, lemongrass, ginger and fish sauce in. And bring to the boil.

Step 2:
Once it starts to boil add the chicken and coconut milk, stir and bring it back to boil.
Once boiling, reduce the heat and simmer for about 2 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through. Keep stiring whilst doing this to avoid a skin forming. Remove the lemongrass.

Step 3:
Serve the Tom Kha Gai when ready and garnish with the corriander.

5) Boil rice(I made nasi lemak!)
6) Should be ok kot...

Do you remember story of Cinderella? 2 sisters who hate their younger sister because she is pretty and all?

Doesn't it remind you of how today's females are, albeit most suffer silently.

A bunch of normal looking(or fat) girls come together to poke fun at the hot PYT.

Now.

Imagine this, 2 friends living in a hostel room. In this case, 1 normal looking and 1 fat one. One day, a hot sassy thing was put in their room. If she had a tail it would pride itself like a peacock. She was already hot by normal standards, but when put beside Ms. Normal and Ms. Fat, she was Miss World and Universe combined!

Now, this is what naturally happens:

Normal would always try to get near the PYT. You put a toad beside a flower and somehow the toad will look better. Normal tries to befriend PYT. Well, she tries.

Fat hates PYT. She thing she so thin but when she jump, she got stuck. (ok, bad joke) .Fat would hit PYT in the face if she could. She would try to get Normal to herself as much as possible and not let her hang around PYT. Several nights a week, curse words fly down the hallway.

PYT hates her life, she is thin and pretty and she hates the entire world. She hate the person who put her in that room. She hates Normal. She especially hates Fat! Her momma must be so fat that when she jump, she got stuck! What the hell am I doing here with all these ugly girls. I want my own room with my own friends! Everything sucks! Thats what she'll say...

The weather has been wonderful. Just need to unglue my butt to my new chair.

So, a 16 year old talented baseball player will skip his final 2 years of school to enter college just so that he is eligible to be selected to be in the big leagues and in the Nats...

At first I was doing my "sophisticated" thinking thingy, I thought that all the skeptics who is against this is old-fashioned and should let loose a bit. Then just ever so suddenly, i became even more "sophisticated" when I started to think about that kid himself.

It is true that he has super cool talents and all, but 16 years old, going to a community college just to play baseball...

Of course he won't miss out on the science and maths that he might learn in his final 2 years in school, probably he'd be playing ball too much to be learning those things.

But 16 years old, dude... and you're worried about your future? I believe that this is the sort of person, when he becomes old, will go crazy and tell his grandchildren,"All i ever did was hit some balls, thats all they ever tell me to do. I'd be standing in the sun for hours just hitting 'em balls"

My current 5-minute theory in life is -

Of course its very logical la that the paper industry chops down a billion trees a year to make our newspaper and magazines and colloq papers... everyone knows it. What caught my attention most was, instead of fighting for 1 cause (i.e. Women's Rights, Polar Ice Cap Melting, Use Hybrid Cars etc) - without thinking of how YOUR fighting for that cause ONLY, does to the rest of the world..

It is so miraculous how time can change :) into (: ...

While I was sitting infront of the comp preparing what I was about to share, alot of nostalgic moments hit me.

I missed times when I was back in school, where naivity is normal :)

Interact club meant so much to me ..to some people, QM was their life! or Leo Club !

Where CF commitee meetings would be highlights of the week. We'd mamak into the evening and then go home for a home cooked meal.

Studies were "ok-lar" important... but suddenly I don't recall many people whole did not study as much as "we" did...and got any poorer results (heh...)

Football on saturday mornings were hawt ! No, it was not just about the game(which we don't normally keep score anyways) or about the people we played with(or against) ... it was more of like, just being there, a pack of moving clouds in the vast desert sky, where purpose and direction was not really important. What is important - that you're a pack of moving clouds in the vast desert sky.

(to those who don't get me: Nothing is important...it's just ... it..?)

Sub-youngmanhood, you think you've got it all, but you're just spending the family's fortune in Gold Class Cinema week after week.

There were to popular kids and the kids which the popular kids picked on, and the kids who wants to pick on them as well but not popular enough to induce any damage... Part time jobs and gengsterism.

Sometimes I wonder what the teachers(especially HEMs) see when they look at a bunch of kids who think they are heading the right way into an unbreakable future. I mean, they must know that this whole, "school" thing, is just some sort of a pseudo-reality, a dimension which borders on the gates of the compound, a playground for those taller than 1.5m . So why the harsh punishment on gengsters and those who keep their nails?...

...I secretly believe that they send undergrad teachers to acting class in Kursus Cikgu or something...

Everybody wants to be responsible-less, care-less, and worry-less... hehe..

I remember when we were running PRS in form 2, I totally screwed up on an event or a big day or something like that...*DON"T KILL ME! PLEASE SAVE ME!" ... ... "huh..?"... the day passes without a hint of a problem. (:

I miss times when I can grab Ais Kacang and a Daging Special without worrying about how the government will react to the Bill on Internet Freedom.

I have broken my own records again.
3 months(almost) without depending on the internet to survive.

Funny thing is, I will die , not because the internet is my source of food, but because the internet will choose the people to give food to me. I can be on the brink of failing my exams and being hot on water for many many things, just because of my absence of internet.

Somebody said that Cold is not the presence of cold, but it is the absence of Heat.

It has seem that I am not in totality free and unbound from being conformed to use the internet, but I am simply in the land where there is the absence of it. Dry ground.

Every now and then, everyone of us experience a time where we have finally grew out of coffee and towards Cola. It is very important that through this transition, we keep our eyes on the goal, lest we get dismayed and distracted. The choice is ours ultimately, no matter how much money both companies spend on their advertistment, promotion and packaging. Coca-Cola or Pepsi, that is the question now.

Well we all know that we need coca-cola much more than pepsi, we all know that after all that has been and will be, pepsi will fade and there is no effect at all. Coca-cola on the other hand, maybe might not have the extra little tangyness in it's flavor, but it works, it keeps you awake and it is what you need after all.

Today I had a very bad day, and sometimes, even though I know I shouldn't, I mustn't and I have vowed never to every do it again, I bought Pepsi. Well of course it is cheaper and easier to dispose of(the bottle), but , but...

In the end, I have nothing but remorse. I feel worse than before.

Its these problems that shape our character, making us stronger, more resilient, forgiving and more capable of love.Without any challenges in life, problems to fix and puzzles to solve, would people need much brain then? Maybe we’d be more like a fish whose only problem is to swim and find its food.What we rarely realize is that people need problems as much as the solutions, challenges as much as the sweet victories emanating from them.

Why do you think there is a proliferation of reality tv shows nowadays? Aside from commercialism and the satisfaction of our natural curiosities, people crave for challenges they no longer face in their boring day to day lives

You know what's a beautiful word? Funny is a beautiful word. Because at the same time, it tells of 2 separate expression.

So I took 1 day off as a gift to myself, missing 2 rather unmissable class, put my eyes at serious danger by starring at the comp for almost 20hours, did not sleep the entire night, chases a bunch of good people away from my room, and stressed myself to the core...

11.00am - started my work on the paper

8 am - finally finished and printed the 38 pages of my report work.

8.30am- rushed in a cab with a few late people

8.40am-lecture began

10.00am - hands in report work

10.20am - Sufrin tells me that Dr Ali Alsabounchi extended the deadline and we can hand in our work anytime before the final exams...
